Help Wanted

The Nelson Township Board of Trustees is looking for a skilled individual for a full-time position.  If seeking part-time work, you are encouraged to apply.  High school diploma or equivalent is required, along with related work experience.  Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and meet our basic qualifications.

Position: Road Maintenance Level 2

Location: Nelson Township, Portage County

                9231 State Route 305

                Garrettsville, Ohio 44231

 Wage: $20-$27/hr. (based on skillset and experience)

 Hours: M-F (7:00 A.M.- 3:30 P.M.) with occasional overtime/periodic on-call support

Qualifications: Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and subsequent random drug screens required.  Eligibility for inclusion on the township covered driver’s insurance list required.  Willingness to learn new skills and attend technical training, ability to work as part of a team, have a positive, can-do attitude, be open to direct instruction, be a self-starter, punctual and reliable, flexibility for changing tasks and assignments, physical strength able to lift 50 lbs., experience in general labor and/or mechanics a plus.  References required.

Requirements:  Class B CDL required.  Operate Equipment listed but not limited to gas or electric; chainsaw, string trimmer, zero turn mower, street roller, backhoe, loader, road side mower, tractor with brush mower or broom, and chipper.  Must be able to perform light equipment repairs and have a good public demeanor.  Must be able to efficiently clean and create roadside ditches layouts, open/close cemetery graves, assist with industrial vegetation control, and snow plowing.
